Manchester United Face Fierce Competition to Sign £15m Star in January

Manchester United are preparing to renew their efforts to sign Leicester City midfielder Louis Page after coming close to recruiting the teenager during the summer transfer window. According to a report by TEAMtalk on Saturday, November 7, 2026, the 18-year-old has attracted growing interest from clubs across Europe, making the proposed move increasingly difficult for the Old Trafford side to complete.

United remain keen to bring Page to the club, but his performances have strengthened his reputation and drawn attention from several prominent teams. The growing competition has raised concerns that the Red Devils could miss out on a player they nearly secured only a few months ago.

Leicester are reportedly open to negotiating a January transfer, although any agreement would have to satisfy two key requirements. The Championship club want Page to return on loan for the remainder of the season, allowing him to continue his development at the King Power Stadium rather than leave immediately.

The Foxes are also seeking a total package of approximately £15 million. However, the fee is not expected to be paid entirely upfront, with a substantial proportion potentially structured through instalments due in the future. The initial payment could amount to less than a third of the overall valuation.

Page remains under contract with Leicester until 2029, placing the club in a strong negotiating position. That long-term agreement means they are not under immediate pressure to sell, even as interest in the midfielder continues to increase.

Manchester City have reportedly joined the pursuit, while Arsenal and Chelsea have also been keeping track of his progress. Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Brighton and Brentford are among the other Premier League clubs said to have made enquiries about his availability.

Interest is not limited to England. Borussia Dortmund remain admirers of Page after previously identifying him as a potential signing. The Bundesliga club have developed a reputation for recruiting promising young players and providing opportunities for them to progress.

TEAMtalk also reports that Real Madrid and Barcelona have monitored the Leicester midfielder. The involvement of two of Spain’s biggest clubs adds another dimension to the situation and underlines the level of attention Page’s performances have generated.

For United, the renewed pursuit comes with the risk of another transfer setback. Having come close to reaching an agreement in the summer, they now face a larger group of rivals, some of whom could offer attractive sporting projects to a developing young player.

Leicester’s willingness to consider a sale offers United an opportunity to reopen negotiations. However, the proposed loan-back arrangement and the £15 million valuation will need to be addressed before a deal can progress. The structure of the payment may also become an important part of discussions.

With several leading sides assessing his potential, Leicester can expect considerable attention ahead of January. United will need to move decisively and find terms acceptable to the Foxes if they are to prevent another club from securing the teenager’s signature. His next move will be closely watched by interested clubs.
