Man Utd want €75m superstar as next blockbuster signing

According to a report by FootballTransfers on Friday, November 6, 2026, Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White as they begin identifying potential transfer targets ahead of the 2027 summer window.

The England international has attracted considerable interest following his impressive displays for Forest, with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur both monitoring his situation.

Reports cited by FootballTransfers indicate that United are prepared to compete with Tottenham for the midfielder's signature, although persuading Nottingham Forest to sell could prove challenging.

Gibbs-White has been linked with a departure from the City Ground for more than a year. However, the 26-year-old committed his future to the club last summer by signing a lucrative long-term contract.

Forest are reportedly determined to retain one of their most important players in 2027, particularly during the January transfer window.

The midfielder is viewed as a key part of the club's long-term plans under manager Oliver Glasner, making negotiations difficult for any interested club.

FootballTransfers currently places Gibbs-White's estimated value at around €75.1 million, with his transfer valuation ranging between €67.6 million and €82.6 million.

Manchester United's interest is reportedly linked to the uncertainty surrounding Bruno Fernandes' future at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese midfielder could leave the club permanently next year, prompting United to consider possible replacements in case their captain departs.

Gibbs-White has become one of the players under consideration because of his creativity, attacking ability and versatility across different midfield positions.

His performances for Nottingham Forest have highlighted his ability to influence matches in the final third, qualities that could make him an attractive option for United if they lose Fernandes.

However, Tottenham are also keen to secure his services.

Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi is reportedly looking to improve his attacking midfield options amid concerns about the performances of Conor Gallagher and James Maddison.

Gibbs-White is regarded as a potential signing who could strengthen Tottenham's creativity and add another attacking dimension to their midfield.

Manchester United could therefore face strong competition from their Premier League rivals if Forest eventually become willing to negotiate a deal.

Meanwhile, Gibbs-White is not the only player being considered as United prepare for another important transfer window.

The club are reportedly prioritising the signing of a new left-back after failing to secure Lewis Hall during the previous summer transfer window.

United could also look to reinforce their central defence if Lisandro Martinez leaves Old Trafford following reports of tensions between the Argentine defender and the club's hierarchy.

Bournemouth winger Marcus Tavernier has also emerged as a possible target, with the Red Devils reportedly holding further internal discussions ahead of the January transfer window.

However, Manchester United's recruitment plans could also be affected by the situation surrounding manager Michael Carrick.

Carrick had faced mounting pressure following the club's disappointing start to the campaign, but their dramatic 3-2 Champions League victory over Roma offered him some temporary relief.

United recovered from a two-goal deficit to claim their first victory since September 10, bringing an end to a frustrating run of results and easing some of the pressure on the manager.

Attention has now shifted to Sunday's Premier League encounter with Aston Villa, where the Red Devils will be aiming to secure another important result.

Nevertheless, the prospect of signing Gibbs-White represents an interesting development as Manchester United assess their long-term midfield options.

Any potential deal could depend on Fernandes' future, Nottingham Forest's willingness to negotiate and whether United are prepared to meet the financial demands involved.
