Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has urged his former club to consider signing Chelsea winger Estevão, arguing that the Brazilian could strengthen their attack following Mohamed Salah’s departure. According to a report published by Metro on Saturday, November 7, 2026, Heskey believes the 19-year-old would bring qualities Liverpool currently lack and become a valuable option at Anfield.
Estevão has shown glimpses of his ability whenever given opportunities at Chelsea, but regular first-team football has proved difficult to secure under manager Xabi Alonso this season. Competition for places in the forward line has limited his involvement, leaving the youngster with little time to demonstrate what he can offer.
The Brazilian made his first Premier League start of the campaign against Manchester United last weekend and delivered an encouraging display. However, he has accumulated only 134 minutes in the competition this season, a modest total for a player regarded as one of Chelsea’s exciting young attacking prospects.
Heskey believes Liverpool should view that situation as an opportunity. He highlighted Estevão’s direct approach, ability to drive forward with the ball and willingness to take on defenders as attributes that could add variety to the Reds’ attacking play. In his assessment, those qualities would help address a gap left by Salah.
“Estevão would be a great signing for Liverpool,” Heskey told Eldorado.
“You look at what he would bring, his drive on the ball and everything, he's a very tidy player, and that is exactly what Liverpool still miss after losing Mohamed Salah, someone who is more direct.”
The former England international also believes a move could benefit Liverpool beyond improving their attacking options. Estevão’s arrival would increase competition among the club’s wingers, potentially pushing established players to maintain their standards while giving the teenager a clearer route to regular opportunities.
Heskey added that the Brazilian would welcome the chance to play more often and demonstrate his potential. He acknowledged that Liverpool already have talented wide players, but argued that another gifted attacker would raise competition within the squad.
Chelsea, however, have given no indication that they are prepared to let Estevão leave, either permanently or on loan. Reports linking him with a possible January exit were addressed by Alonso before the Manchester United fixture.
The Chelsea manager dismissed the speculation, saying no discussions had taken place about a loan move. Alonso also accepted responsibility for the teenager’s limited minutes while praising his attitude and commitment during training.
Meanwhile, former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has identified a possible role for Estevão in Alonso’s plans. Gerrard believes the youngster could become an important option for Chelsea, particularly when fellow Brazilian forward João Pedro returns from injury.
Estevão’s performance against United has renewed attention on his potential, but his future remains with Chelsea for now. Although Heskey has made a case for Liverpool to pursue him, there is little evidence that the London club intends to sanction his departure. Any transfer would depend on a change in Chelsea’s position and the player’s opportunities under Alonso this season.
