According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, October 17, 2026, Chelsea secured a 2-0 victory over Everton in their Premier League encounter, with Pedro Neto scoring twice in the second half to earn the Blues all three points.
Both teams struggled to break the deadlock during the opening period despite creating several goalscoring opportunities.
Chelsea started brightly and enjoyed spells of possession as they looked to break down Everton’s defence. Cole Palmer tested Jordan Pickford with a powerful effort in the 15th minute, but the Everton goalkeeper produced an excellent save to keep the ball out of the bottom corner.
Everton also threatened at the other end, with Thierno Barry forcing Emiliano Martinez into action with a header in the 28th minute. The Chelsea goalkeeper made another important save ten minutes later to deny Barry’s low effort.
Chelsea came close to taking the lead in the 41st minute when Moises Caicedo struck the crossbar with a first-time effort from outside the penalty area.
Neither side found the net before halftime, but Chelsea broke the deadlock shortly after the restart. Neto received a pass inside the penalty area and fired a powerful shot into the bottom-right corner, giving Pickford little chance of making the save.
The goal boosted Chelsea’s confidence, with Palmer going close from distance in the 57th minute before Joao Pedro missed an opportunity seven minutes later by sending his effort wide of the left post.
Everton attempted to fight back, but Chelsea maintained their lead despite an injury concern involving Martinez, who was replaced by Mike Penders in the 75th minute.
Neto sealed the victory in the 90th minute after reacting quickly to a rebound inside the penalty area and drilling the ball into the bottom-right corner to complete his brace.
Everton pushed forward during stoppage time but failed to find a goal as Chelsea held on for an important Premier League victory, with Neto’s second-half performance proving decisive.
