According to a report by FootballTransfers on Saturday, October 17, 2026, Chelsea have reportedly identified Strasbourg winger Gessime Yassine as a potential addition to their squad, with the 20-year-old emerging as another possible signing from their sister club.
Since BlueCo took control of Chelsea in 2023, players have regularly moved between the Premier League side and its Ligue 1 affiliate, Strasbourg. While young players and those seeking more playing time have moved to France, promising performers have attracted interest from Stamford Bridge.
The arrangement has become an important part of BlueCo’s recruitment strategy, although its success remains a subject of debate.
Chelsea’s recent signings from Strasbourg have yet to establish themselves as key players. Emmanuel Emegha, Valentin Barco and Mamadou Sarr reportedly cost a combined €79 million, but none has made a significant impact at Stamford Bridge. Emegha, in particular, has yet to feature for Chelsea’s first team.
Despite these challenges, the partnership has offered benefits to both clubs. Strasbourg have gained access to players they might otherwise struggle to attract, while Chelsea have used loan spells in France to assess young talents before making decisions about their futures.
Andrey Santos, for instance, enhanced his reputation during his time at Strasbourg before Chelsea eventually sold him.
Yassine could become the latest player to move from Alsace to London. Strasbourg signed the winger from French second-division side Dunkerque in January, and he has gradually begun to demonstrate his potential after initially needing time to adapt.
The Moroccan international scored twice against Lens in August before providing an assist against Troyes. He has also earned nine senior caps for Morocco, further highlighting his progress.
His performances have reportedly attracted Chelsea’s attention, while former Chelsea goalkeeper coach Christophe Lollichon, who now works at Dunkerque, has suggested that the winger is close to joining the Premier League club.
Speaking to Ouest-France about the development of young players, Lollichon described Yassine as “practically” at Chelsea.
However, neither Chelsea nor Strasbourg has officially confirmed a transfer. If the move materialises, Yassine will have an opportunity to establish himself at Stamford Bridge and make a stronger impression than some of Chelsea’s recent recruits from Strasbourg.
