Arsenal receive England squad boost as Tuchel leaves Madueke out but Declan Rice concern emerges

According to a report by Football London on Friday, November 6, 2026, Arsenal have received a boost following Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad announcement, with winger Noni Madueke left out of the selection for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain.

Madueke had been expected to secure a place in the squad, especially with fellow Arsenal attacker Bukayo Saka currently unavailable because of a quadriceps injury. However, despite his impressive performances in recent weeks, Tuchel decided not to include the former Chelsea player.

The 24-year-old has been in encouraging form for Arsenal, scoring in Wednesday's 2-1 Champions League victory over Slavia Prague. He also found the net during the Gunners' 1-0 Premier League win against Nottingham Forest.

Madueke has recorded three goals and one assist in his last eight appearances for Arsenal, making his omission from the latest England squad a notable decision.

The winger was previously part of Tuchel's squad at the World Cup during the summer, where he started four matches as England reached the semi-finals.

He was also left out of the previous international camp, which included Nations League fixtures against Spain, Czechia and Croatia. Madueke subsequently used the disappointment as motivation to improve his performances at club level.

Meanwhile, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has returned to the England squad after missing the previous camp due to workload management. He has featured regularly for the Gunners since then, including in their Champions League meeting with Slavia Prague on Wednesday.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta defended his decision to play Rice despite making several changes to his starting line-up, explaining that the midfielder had enjoyed enough recovery time following his previous appearance against Fleetwood.

However, Rice's return to international duty could raise concerns about his workload, particularly given his recent fitness problems.

The 27-year-old struggled with hamstring discomfort during the summer World Cup and reportedly needed injections to remain available for selection. He was also seen holding the back of his right hamstring during Arsenal's 2-0 victory over Everton.

Arsenal will therefore hope that Rice manages his fitness carefully during the international break.

Elsewhere, Ben White has returned to the England squad after recovering from the knee injury that prevented him from featuring at the World Cup.

Arsenal players Eberechi Eze and Myles Lewis-Skelly have also been included, alongside Rice and White.

England will host Croatia at Wembley on November 12 before travelling to Madrid to face Spain three days later.
