Raphinha Names Gabriel Jesus As Barcelona's Best Player in One Area

According to a report by Football London on Thursday, November 5, 2026, Gabriel Jesus appears to be enjoying life at Barcelona following his departure from Arsenal, with the Brazilian striker already receiving recognition from one of the Spanish club's biggest stars, Raphinha.

The 29 year old completed an £8.6 million transfer to the Catalan club towards the end of the summer transfer window, bringing an end to his four-year spell at Arsenal, who originally signed him from Manchester City for approximately £45 million.

His departure from the Emirates Stadium was reportedly surrounded by tension, with Jesus claiming that he was unexpectedly separated from the first team during training before completing his move. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta also admitted that he was surprised by the circumstances surrounding the situation.

However, the Brazilian has quickly settled into his new environment in Spain and appears to have impressed his Barcelona teammates.

During a TikTok challenge organised by Movistar Plus Deportes, Raphinha was asked to select his ideal Barcelona player based on different footballing qualities. When asked to identify the strongest player in the air, the Brazilian winger chose Gabriel Jesus.

The recognition represents another encouraging moment for the former Arsenal forward, who has also attracted positive comments from Barcelona manager Hansi Flick.

Last month, Flick praised Jesus for his improvement and adaptation to the club's playing style. The German manager also expressed surprise at how Barcelona managed to secure the striker's services for such a relatively low transfer fee.

Jesus has made an encouraging start to his Barcelona career, scoring four goals in 10 appearances despite starting only two matches. His Champions League debut against Feyenoord was particularly impressive.

Meanwhile, Barcelona remain among the contenders for this season's Champions League title after responding to their 4-2 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain with an impressive 3-0 victory over Aston Villa.

Raphinha scored twice in that encounter, while Lamine Yamal contributed the other goal. Barcelona currently occupy fifth position in the league-phase standings.

Arsenal, meanwhile, continue to establish themselves among the strongest teams in the competition, raising the possibility of a future meeting with their former striker.

If both clubs progress further, Jesus could get an opportunity to face his former teammates in European football. Such an encounter would be particularly interesting, as Arsenal supporters could give the Brazilian a warm reception before kick off, although that reaction might change if he scores against his former club.
