Murang’a Seal will host Posta Rangers at SportPesa Arena at 3:00 pm in a meeting between two sides seeking their first points of the season.
The Football Kenya Federation Premier League Round Two fixtures kicked off on Saturday, October 17, with KCB and Gor Mahia recording narrow 1-0 victories over Mathare United and APS Bomet, respectively.
KCB secured maximum points at Police Sacco Stadium in Nairobi through new signing Mambote Batshi Assis, bouncing back from their 2-2 draw against Nairobi United in the opening round.
Meanwhile, defending champions Gor Mahia maintained their winning start to the season, following up their 4-2 victory over Murang’a Seal at Nyayo Stadium on Tuesday night with another three points.
Alpha Onyango scored late in the match to secure Gor Mahia’s victory over APS Bomet at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay, keeping the champions at the top of the league standings.
KCB will face Posta Rangers in their next fixture, while Gor Mahia are scheduled to host Bandari FC.
Three more matches are lined up for Sunday, October 18, with the second round set to continue until Tuesday.
Murang’a Seal will host Posta Rangers at SportPesa Arena at 3:00 pm in a meeting between two sides seeking their first points of the season.
Posta Rangers suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Shabana FC at Wang’uru Stadium in their opening match. The Mailmen held their opponents at bay for much of the contest, with Mark Shaban among the players who threatened to score for the Kisii-based side.
However, Posta Rangers captain Bernard Ondiek was sent off in the first half, leaving his team with a numerical disadvantage. Shabana eventually capitalised on a set-piece in the 71st minute to claim all three points.
The Mailmen will be without Ondiek for Sunday's encounter as they seek to recover from their opening-day setback against a Murang’a Seal side that also began the campaign with a defeat.
In Kakamega, Kakamega Homeboyz will host Ulinzi Stars at Bukhungu Stadium, with both sides looking to build momentum after contrasting results in the opening round.
Homeboyz edged league debutants Mombasa United 1-0 at Mbaraki Stadium, with defender Charles Momanyi scoring an 89th-minute winner. The centre-back rose to head home a corner delivered by Moses Mudavadi, denying the hosts a share of the points.
The victory gave Abana Beingo a winning start to the campaign, while Mombasa United were left to rue conceding so late in the match.
Ulinzi Stars, meanwhile, will be looking to respond after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Tusker FC at home. Tusker’s new signings Alvin Mangeni and Victor Mbaoma were on target as the Brewers secured the only victory by a two-goal margin in Sunday's opening-round fixtures, with a clean sheet to match.
The soldiers will now face a Homeboyz side eager to maintain its winning momentum on home soil.
At Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, Shabana FC will take on Nairobi United in another 3:00 pm kick-off.
Shabana head into the match on the back of their opening-day win over Posta Rangers and will be seeking to make it two victories from two under their Egyptian tactician.
However, they face a Nairobi United side coached by Patrick Aussems that will be eager to claim its first win of the campaign.
Nairobi United surrendered a lead late in their opening match against KCB to settle for a 2-2 draw. The Naibois will be hoping to address those defensive lapses as they seek maximum points against the Kisii-based side.
Shabana, on the other hand, will look to build on their winning start and maintain their early-season momentum.
All three Sunday matches are scheduled to kick off at 3:00 pm.
