Murang’a Seal got their first SportPesa League win of the season in fine style by humiliating Posta Rangers 5-1 in a one-sided match at the SportPesa Arena on Sunday afternoon.
A first half Majaliwa Charo brace and another from Josphat Lopaga already sent Murang’a flying 3-0 at the break on their way to make amends for their opening day defeat.
The Dennis Odhiambo side did not let up after the break with Lopaga getting his brace, as well as Michael Macharia adding another in a quickfire two minutes with 10 left on the clock.
After two games in the SportPesa League, Lopaga leads the top scorer charts with four goals, having bagged a brace against Gor Mahia in the opening round.
Majaliwa Charo is tied in second place with Gor duo of Alpha Onyango and Sharif Musa with two goals a piece.
Posta could only score what would be their consolation goal in the 91st minute, making it back-to-back losses for the mailmen.
The emphatic victory sees Murang’a shoot up into fifth place on the log with their first three points of the 2026/27 SportPesa League season.
This was a perfect response from the home side who lost 4-2 to record league champions Gor Mahia in round one, with head coach Odhiambo stating their preparedness ahead of this encounter.
His side seemed to have worked on their defensive vulnerabilities as they were unfortunate to not keep a clean sheet, conceding late on.
Murang’a’s next assignment is a tricky away test at the coast against a Bandari side that they have never managed to beat in the Kenyan football league.
Posta will have to wait for their first points on the board and a next fixture against Gor Mahia does not seem like the right fixture under the dire circumsatnces.
Elsewhere in the SportPesa League, Shabana and Nairobi United played out to a barren draw at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, with both teams maintaining their unbeaten league starts.
Kakamega Homeboyz came from behind in their home match against Ulinzi Stars to earn a point in a 1-1 draw at the Bukhungu Stadium.
