Manchester City Maintain Perfect Premier League Start With Seven Wins

Manchester, October 18, 2026 — Manchester City remain top of the Premier League table after securing their seventh consecutive league victory with a 3-2 win over Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, October 17, according to match reports from Reuters and the club’s official website.

The victory leaves City with 21 points from seven matches, six points ahead of second-placed Arsenal, who have played six games, according to the latest league standings published by Manchester City.

Erling Haaland scored twice, while Phil Foden also found the net as City maintained their 100 per cent record under manager Enzo Maresca.

Foden opened the scoring in the 19th minute, but Ipswich responded two minutes later through Daizen Maeda. Haaland restored City's lead in the 34th minute before scoring again in the 69th minute to give the hosts a two-goal cushion.

Ipswich reduced the deficit late in the match when Zian Flemming converted a penalty in the 90th minute. However, City held on to secure all three points.

According to Reuters, the result marked City's best-ever start to a Premier League season. The club's official match report also said the seven consecutive victories equalled its best winning start to a campaign, previously achieved in 1897/98.

The match also brought an individual milestone for Haaland. Reuters reported that the Norwegian striker reached 100 non-penalty goals in the Premier League in 139 appearances, the fastest any player has reached that mark.

Despite the victory, City faced concerns over potential injuries, with Haaland and several teammates appearing to experience physical problems during the match. Reuters reported that Haaland limped off late in the game, while Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes and Nico O'Reilly also left the field during the second half.

City's latest league result followed a Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the week. The domestic victory allowed the team to maintain its position at the top of the table despite that European setback.

Manchester City are scheduled to face AEK Athens in the Champions League on Tuesday, October 20, according to the club's official fixture information. Their immediate domestic challenge will be to preserve their winning run as the Premier League season continues. Source https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19ui5DLMaV/
