Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes Harry Maguire had a solid game as Manchester United settle for a draw at Leeds.
The Red Devils were desperate for a win at Elland Road to put their campaign back on the right track.
Michael Carrick’s men had a decent first half, and they headed to the dressing room with a slim advantage thanks to Bryan Mbeumo’s 35th-minute opener.
However, Dominic Calvert-Lewin rescued a point for the home side by scoring the equaliser from a corner kick in the 51st minute.
Jamie Carragher praises Harry Maguire
This result left Man Utd in a miserable 13th place in the Premier League table, having only collected seven points from as many games.
Nevertheless, Carragher argued that a point at Elland Road isn’t a disastrous result by any means, given the hosts’ impressive start to the season.
“In isolation, going to Leeds and performing how they did was a decent result,” argued the 48-year-old during his appearance on Sky Sports.
The retired defender also reserved a few words of praise for Maguire, who marshalled the backline for the Red Devils.
“I thought Maguire was fantastic.”
The 32-year-old Englishman started alongside Lisandro Martinez, who was given the nod after apologising for his shocking statement against Man Utd Director of Football Jason Wilcox.
However, the Argentine left his place for the returning Noussair Mazraoui after the break.
How did Maguire perform in Leeds vs Man Utd?
Amidst all the injuries and chaos surrounding him, Maguire has been forced to adjust to playing alongside various partners over the past few weeks.
The former Leicester star has been guilty of making a few errors himself, but perhaps he should be forgiven due to the lack of consistency he has had to deal with.
On Sunday, Maguire wasn’t able to steer his team to victory or register the first clean sheet in the Premier League this season, but he has certainly done his part.

The metrics above prove Carragher made a valid point, as they depict a robust display at the back, as well as occasional attacking contributions.
Unfortunately for Man Utd, Maguire wasn’t marking Calvert-Lewin on the equaliser, as the outcome may have differed. Instead, the English striker was allowed to outmuscle Mbeumo before sending an unstoppable shot past Senne Lammens.
