UCL: Top players go to Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal – Gullit pities Man United
UCL: Top players go to Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal – Gullit pities Man United

Former Chelsea star, Ruud Gullit has expressed his views on the difficulties facing Manchester United this season, arguing that the Red Devils lack the quality to challenge the top clubs in the Premier League.

According to him, the Red Devils lack quality players because top players prefer to join Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool rather than move to Old Trafford.

Michael Carrick’s squad suffered a 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

The result extended their winless streak across all competitions to five consecutive matches, comprising three losses and two draws.

Gullit told ComeOn, “The most important thing that Manchester United can show this season is patience. It’s a simple fact. They don’t have the best players in the Premier League anymore.

“They all play for the other teams at the moment. United are having to deal with the fact that the players they really need all play for the other clubs. They missed the boat about five or six years ago.

“The top players went to Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City, and United have missed the boat.

“It will take some time for them to get themselves in order and return to a level where they can have a chance of winning another Premier League title.

“There are too many stronger contenders with a lot more quality this season,” he added.

The Red Devils have secured just two victories in nine matches across all competitions this season.
