Nigeria's Flamingos have made history by reaching their first-ever FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup final after defeating Brazil 3-1 in Wednesday's semi-final in Morocco.
The Nigerian youngsters produced an impressive second-half performance to overcome the South Americans at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, securing a place in the final for the first time in the country's history.
Queen Joseph opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 56th minute before Awawu Bashiru doubled the advantage in the 71st minute.
Bashiru then completed her brace in the 80th minute to put the Flamingos firmly in control and seal a memorable victory.
Brazil managed to pull one goal back through Greise Kelly in the 89th minute, but Nigeria held on to secure a 3-1 win and book their place in Saturday's final.
The achievement marks a major milestone for the Flamingos, who had previously reached the semi-finals in 2022, finishing third after defeating Germany in the bronze-medal match.
Their run in Morocco has been particularly impressive, especially after opening the tournament with a 2-1 defeat to Poland.
Nigeria responded with victories over Puerto Rico, defending champions North Korea and Mexico before edging Venezuela 1-0 in the quarter-finals.
Captain Azeezat Oduntan scored the decisive goal against Venezuela from the penalty spot in the 89th minute, sending Nigeria into the last four.
The victory over Brazil also ends Nigeria's wait for a first appearance in the final of the competition, giving the country an opportunity to compete for its first U-17 Women's World Cup title.
The Flamingos will now face Japan in Saturday's final after the Asian side defeated North Korea in the other semi-final.
Japan advanced following a 4-1 penalty shootout victory after the match ended 1-1.
Nigeria will be hoping to complete their historic campaign by lifting the trophy and becoming the first African nation to win the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
