2026 U-17 WWC: ‘Playing In The Final Is A Big Privilege’ –Flamingos Goal Scorer Reacts After Win Over Brazil

Nigeria’s Flamingos star Queen Joseph has expressed her delight after securing a place in the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

She reacted after scoring in Nigeria’s decisive 3–1 semi-final victory over Brazil on Wednesday.

Joseph opened the scoring first before the Flamingos doubled their advantage in the 71st minute when Awawu Bashiru found the net following a crisp setup by Joseph. Bashiru struck again in the 80th minute to make it 3–0, converting a precise pass from Oluebube Umejiaku as Nigeria took total control of the match.

Reflecting on the milestone in a post-match chat with FIFA.com, Joseph emphasized that the team’s achievement carries weight far beyond national borders.

“I feel very happy. Playing in the final is a huge privilege, and representing my country on this stage means everything to me,” Joseph said.

“I’m super proud of myself and my teammates because we made history. We are not just representing Nigeria here—we are representing all of Africa.”
