EPL: 4 fixtures we could see shock results this weekend
EPL: 4 fixtures we could see shock results this weekend

The Premier League matchday eight started on Friday after the Champions League matches in mid-week.

Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 with Ipswich Town on Friday night at Portman Road, with Julio Enciso and Neco Williams scoring the goals.

More matches will be played on Saturday and Sunday across different grounds in England.

DAILY POST takes a look at the four matches fans and pundits are likely to see shock results this weekend.

1. Arsenal vs Everton - Arsenal sit in second position in the Premier League table, unbeaten at home in the league this season, and have not lost to Everton in seven consecutive meetings. Everton, by contrast, have won just one of their last six league games. The shock factor, however, lies in the team news as Arsenal’s talisman, Bukayo Saka, sustained an injury against Bayern Munich in the Champions League in mid-week, while William Saliba is also still sidelined. Everton, meanwhile, have been impressive away, drawing all three of their away trips and conceding just once per visit on average. The Toffees could get a point at the Emirates.

2. Chelsea vs Tottenham - Chelsea are the overwhelming favourites at Stamford Bridge against Spurs, who have won just one of their last 36 league visits to the Bridge.

Tottenham have also lost their last six London derbies and have never lost seven in a row in their entire league history. Spurs finally got their first win of the season on Monday, thanks to a 3-1 victory over Coventry City. However, Chelsea have defensive concerns ahead of the encounter as goalkeeper Emi Martínez is out after jaw surgery, and Reece James remains absent. Tottenham could cause Xabi Alonso's side an upset.

3. Aston Villa vs Man City - Manchester City have won all seven of their Premier League games this season and could become just the eighth team in English top-flight history to start a campaign with eight consecutive wins. Aston Villa have won four of their last six league meetings with City and are unbeaten in six matches across all competitions. Unai Emery’s side are resurgent, and City’s performances have been less convincing than their results suggest.

4. Liverpool vs Brighton - Liverpool are the favourites at Anfield, but they are winless in their last five Premier League home matches.

Brighton, meanwhile, have been the league’s great entertainers. They sit third, above Liverpool, and have scored 23 goals in their opening seven games. Fabian Hürzeler’s side could surprise the Reds in front of their home fans by claiming all three points.
