Liverpool and Bournemouth both recorded convincing Premier League victories on Sunday, October 25, with the Reds defeating Brighton 2-0 at Anfield while Bournemouth inflicted a damaging 3-0 defeat on Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Liverpool 2-0 Brighton
According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Liverpool strengthened their position in the Premier League with a comfortable win over Brighton, courtesy of a Pascal Gross own goal and Alexander Isak’s first-half effort.
The hosts broke the deadlock in the 17th minute when Gross inadvertently directed the ball into his own net. Just four minutes later, Isak made it 2-0, converting from close range after Bradley Barcola provided an excellent assist.
Brighton attempted to get back into the contest, but Yasin Ayari failed to take advantage of a good opening before seeing his long-range effort hit the right post in the 36th minute.
Liverpool remained dangerous going forward, with Alexis Mac Allister missing a close-range header. Verbruggen was also called into action to deal with Cody Gakpo’s attempt.
After the interval, the Reds continued to manage the game despite Brighton’s efforts to reduce the deficit. However, Liverpool suffered a setback when Florian Wirtz was withdrawn in the 65th minute because of an injury.
Alisson Becker later prevented Charalampos Kostoulas from scoring, ensuring Liverpool maintained their two-goal advantage. Brighton applied pressure towards the end, but the home side defended well to collect all three points.
Manchester United 0-3 Bournemouth
Bournemouth produced an impressive performance at Old Trafford, handing Manchester United a heavy defeat and leaving Michael Carrick’s team with another disappointing result.
The visitors made their early pressure count in the 38th minute as Rayan found the net after connecting with Justin Kluivert’s free-kick delivery.
United struggled to recover from the setback and fell further behind shortly before the break. Marcus Tavernier took advantage of a defensive error to score from close range, giving Bournemouth a comfortable two-goal cushion at half-time.
The hosts tried to respond through Bryan Mbeumo and Carlos Baleba, but their efforts failed to produce a goal. Djordje Petrovic made an important save to deny Mbeumo, while Matheus Cunha squandered a promising opportunity after the restart.
Bournemouth effectively ended any hopes of a United comeback in the 71st minute. Evanilson punished another defensive lapse before calmly finishing from the edge of the penalty area to make it 3-0.
Manchester United continued searching for a consolation goal, but Leny Yoro could only head over the crossbar from a good position.
Bournemouth saw out the remaining minutes without allowing their opponents back into the match, completing an emphatic away victory and leaving United to deal with the disappointment of another home defeat.
