According to a report by Barca Universal on Friday October 23, 2026, Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez has identified Thibaut Courtois and Kylian Mbappe as major threats ahead of Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid.

The Spaniard believes Barcelona must concentrate on their own performance and work collectively to secure victory in one of the season’s biggest fixtures.

Speaking to RTVE ahead of the highly anticipated encounter, Fermin insisted that neither team’s recent form would necessarily determine the outcome. He stressed the importance of maintaining concentration, executing their plans and paying attention to crucial details throughout the match.

The 23-year-old highlighted Courtois’ ability to make decisive saves and Mbappe’s quality in front of goal. He acknowledged that both players could significantly influence the contest and admitted Barcelona would need a collective effort to limit their impact.

Fermin also addressed Jose Mourinho’s comments concerning refereeing in Spanish football. However, the Barcelona midfielder refused to become involved in the controversy surrounding Real Madrid’s complaints.

He explained that Barcelona were focused on winning matches and representing the club’s values rather than engaging in public disputes. Fermin added that the team needed to continue following its own path and demonstrate its quality through performances on the pitch.

Meanwhile, the midfielder provided an encouraging update about his fitness after returning from an injury that prevented him from participating in the World Cup. He believes he has recovered well and is determined to maintain his impressive performances.

Fermin also praised head coach Hansi Flick for the confidence he has shown in him this season. The Spaniard acknowledged that his prominent role has motivated him to keep improving and contribute more to the team.

Barcelona’s midfielder also expressed his support for Lamine Yamal in the Ballon d’Or debate. When asked who deserved the prestigious individual award, Fermin confidently named his teammate, describing him as the best.

Barcelona will hope Fermin’s creativity and energy help them overcome Real Madrid as they aim to continue their strong start to the La Liga campaign.
