According to a report by Football London on Monday November 2, 2026, Slavia Prague’s preparations for Wednesday’s Champions League meeting with Arsenal have suffered a setback after manager Jindrich Trpisovsky reportedly banished striker Tomas Chory following disciplinary issues.
Arsenal travel to the Fortuna Arena for the fourth round of the Champions League league phase, aiming to maintain their unbeaten record in the competition. Slavia, meanwhile, are still searching for their first victory.
The Gunners occupy seventh place in the 36-team standings with seven points from three matches. They defeated Napoli 1-0, beat Lille 3-0 and drew 2-2 against Bayern Munich.
Slavia sit 32nd with just one point after losing 3-2 to Lens and 2-0 against Sabah before recording a 2-2 draw with Fenerbahce. They have conceded seven goals across their opening three European fixtures.
Arsenal have allowed only two goals in the competition, sharing the best defensive record with Stuttgart and PSV Eindhoven.
Both sides enter Wednesday’s encounter following convincing domestic results. Arsenal secured a historic 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, recording their first Premier League win at the stadium in 14 years and moving three points clear at the summit.
Slavia Prague also enjoyed an impressive weekend, thrashing Jablonec 5-0 to preserve their seven-point advantage at the top of the Czech First League.
However, the Czech champions face several availability concerns ahead of Arsenal’s visit. Experienced winger Ivan Schranz has been struggling with illness for several weeks, while attacking midfielder Lukas Provod missed the Jablonec match and remains doubtful.
Defender Ange N’Guessan is another concern after sustaining an unspecified injury during his previous appearance. Provod had scored in Slavia’s 2-2 draw against Fenerbahce.
The biggest setback involves Chory, who received a red card during Slavia’s goalless draw against Hradec Kralove after making an obscene gesture towards the referee in the 55th minute.
The towering 6ft 7in striker has reportedly been banished by Trpisovsky and is not expected to represent the club again. The manager confirmed the decision before the Fenerbahce fixture, and Chory subsequently remained behind instead of travelling to Istanbul.
Despite his absence, Slavia demonstrated resilience against Fenerbahce. They fell two goals behind within the opening 11 minutes but rescued a point when substitute Pavel Kacor scored an equaliser in the 90th minute.
Arsenal also have several selection concerns. Bukayo Saka continues recovering from a quadriceps injury, while William Saliba remains unavailable because of a back problem.
Eberechi Eze was an unused substitute against Liverpool, with manager Mikel Arteta confirming that the midfielder has an unspecified fitness issue. Arteta is expected to provide further information following Tuesday’s open training session.
Declan Rice, Noni Madueke and Riccardo Calafiori have recovered from their respective injury concerns and travelled with the squad to Anfield.
Teenage midfielder Max Dowman is eligible to feature against Slavia because his three-match suspension following his red card against Fleetwood applies only to domestic competitions.
Arsenal defeated Slavia 3-0 in Prague during last season’s Champions League league phase. Saka converted a penalty before Mikel Merino scored twice, extending the Gunners’ positive record against the Czech side.
Slavia have failed to defeat Arsenal in their previous five meetings. They have also gone 18 consecutive UEFA fixtures without winning, matching Arsenal’s current unbeaten European run when penalty shootouts are excluded.
