According to a report by GOAL on Sunday October 25, 2026, Manchester United suffered an embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford, with several players delivering disappointing performances as Michael Carrick's side struggled to cope with the visitors.
Despite enjoying 62 per cent possession, United failed to turn their dominance of the ball into meaningful attacking opportunities. Bournemouth, meanwhile, were more clinical, punishing defensive mistakes to secure a convincing victory.
Mason Mount was arguably Manchester United's best performer on a difficult afternoon. The midfielder worked tirelessly, pressed the opposition and attempted to provide creativity in the absence of Bruno Fernandes from the starting line-up. However, his efforts were not enough to inspire a comeback, and his set-piece deliveries left plenty to be desired.
Bryan Mbeumo also tried to make things happen in attack, forcing a save from Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic in the first half. However, he received little consistent service and struggled to influence the contest.
At the other end, Ayden Heaven endured a particularly difficult afternoon and received a rating of just 2/10. His reckless challenge in the first half conceded the free-kick that led to Bournemouth's opening goal, while his repeated mistakes eventually resulted in his substitution.
Leny Yoro and Harry Maguire were also among United's worst performers, both receiving ratings of 3/10. Yoro's costly slip allowed Bournemouth to create the opportunity for Marcus Tavernier's goal, while Maguire struggled to organise a defence that repeatedly looked vulnerable.
Goalkeeper Senne Lammens also had a disappointing outing, conceding three goals and making a poor decision when attempting to deal with a pass from Lewis Cook before Evanilson scored Bournemouth's third in the 71st minute.
Rayan and Tavernier had already put the visitors in control before Evanilson completed the scoring, exposing United's defensive weaknesses and lack of cohesion.
Carrick also came under scrutiny for his tactical decisions, particularly his choice to leave captain Bruno Fernandes out of the starting line-up. The manager received a 2/10 rating after failing to find a solution to Bournemouth's dominance in the decisive moments.
The defeat represents another worrying setback for Manchester United, whose lack of defensive discipline and attacking sharpness will raise further questions about Carrick's ability to turn the team's fortunes around.
