According to a report by BBC Sport on Monday, October 26, 2026, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was the hero for Galatasaray as he scored twice to help his team secure an important 2-1 victory over Fenerbahçe in their Turkish Süper Lig clash.
The Nigerian international gave Galatasaray the lead in the 29th minute after receiving a pass from Baris Alper Yilmaz, finishing the opportunity to put the home side ahead in front of their supporters. Osimhen continued to trouble the Fenerbahçe defence and doubled his team's advantage in the 44th minute, connecting with an assist from Davinson Sanchez to give Galatasaray a comfortable lead before half-time.
Fenerbahçe returned for the second half knowing they needed to improve their performance if they wanted to get something from the encounter, and they managed to reduce the deficit in the 62nd minute when Irfan Kahveci found the back of the net after receiving a pass from Oguz Aydin.
The visitors tried to push forward in search of an equaliser, but Galatasaray remained focused and defended their advantage well as the match approached its closing stages. The home side also made a number of substitutions to keep their players fresh, and they eventually held on to secure all three points after the referee blew the final whistle.
Osimhen's performance will come as welcome news to Galatasaray supporters, as the striker continues to show why he remains an important figure in the team's attack. His two goals proved decisive in a match that could have a major impact on the title race.
With the victory, Galatasaray returned to the top of the Turkish Süper Lig table with 22 points, opening a two-point lead, while Fenerbahçe dropped to fifth position with 16 points after suffering a disappointing defeat against their city rivals.
