According to a report by GOAL on Monday, November 2, 2026, Barcelona youngster Brian Farinas has expressed his excitement after making his senior debut for the club during their convincing 6-1 victory over Deportivo Alaves at Camp Nou, describing the opportunity as the realisation of a childhood ambition.
The 20-year-old academy graduate received an unexpected chance from manager Hansi Flick, who selected him in the starting eleven because of Barcelona's ongoing defensive injury problems.
Although Farinas is naturally a midfielder, he was assigned to the right-back position and successfully completed the entire match as Barcelona returned to winning ways.
The Catalan giants entered the fixture determined to recover from consecutive defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. Flick was forced to make several adjustments to his defensive arrangement, including using Frenkie de Jong as a left-sided centre-back.
Speaking to the club's official media after the final whistle, Farinas expressed his happiness and appreciation for finally representing Barcelona at senior level after years of hard work at the academy.
"I'm very happy, very proud of all these years I've spent working. It's every child's dream. Playing in the First Division, with FC Barcelona, the club of my life," he said.
The youngster also discussed his unfamiliar position during the match, explaining that he was prepared to follow the manager's instructions and contribute wherever necessary.
"I play wherever he puts me," Farinas added.
He further admitted that making his first-team appearance initially brought some nervousness, but he gradually gained confidence as the game continued.
"As you get into the game, I think I'm a player with quite a strong personality. I felt comfortable, to be honest," he explained.
Farinas also acknowledged the assistance he received from his teammates, particularly those who helped him adapt to the demands of senior football during the encounter.
He specifically recognised Pau Cubarsi, Rodri, Fermin Lopez and Lamine Yamal for their encouragement and support throughout the match.
"They helped me a lot," he said.
His impressive introduction could become an important step in his professional development, especially as Barcelona continue to experience difficulties with defensive injuries.
Flick is now preparing his squad for Tuesday's Champions League meeting with Aston Villa, although Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia, Andreas Christensen and Xavi Espart are reportedly unavailable.
Their continued absence could create another opportunity for Farinas to feature in the first team, although his involvement will depend on the manager's selection.
Following his impressive debut, the youngster will be eager to maintain his progress and establish himself as a regular option within Barcelona's senior squad.
