According to a report by FootballTransfers on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Chelsea winger Estêvão Willian is reportedly becoming concerned about his limited playing time under manager Xabi Alonso, despite showing promising signs during his first season at Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian youngster has made just 47 minutes of Premier League appearances this season, a significant reduction in his involvement compared with his encouraging performances during the previous campaign. His situation has raised questions about his role in Alonso’s plans, particularly as Chelsea continue to experience inconsistent results.
Although Chelsea have demonstrated considerable attacking strength and remain among the league’s most productive teams in front of goal, their recent performances have been disappointing. The London club have recorded only two victories in their last six Premier League matches, increasing pressure on Alonso to improve the team’s overall consistency.
Saturday’s home defeat against Tottenham further exposed Chelsea’s weaknesses and brought attention to the manager’s decisions regarding his attacking options. Estêvão’s limited involvement has become a talking point, especially considering his previous contributions to the team.
During the last campaign, the young forward featured in 24 Premier League matches and scored eight goals across all competitions. He has also established himself as an increasingly important member of Brazil’s national team, making his lack of opportunities at club level more noticeable.
Reports suggest that Estêvão believes he deserves additional playing time, although his immediate priority remains convincing Alonso that he merits a regular place in the starting lineup.
The manager’s decision to hand summer recruit Geovany Quenda his first start against Tottenham also attracted attention. Estêvão eventually replaced the 19-year-old in the 72nd minute, highlighting the competition for attacking positions at Chelsea. Pedro Neto has also strengthened his position on the right wing after scoring three goals this season.
Despite the situation, Chelsea reportedly consider Estêvão an important part of their present and future plans. The club is said to be interested in discussing a new contract with the Brazilian, who still has seven years remaining on his existing agreement.
Barcelona and several other clubs are reportedly monitoring developments, although securing his signature would be difficult. Chelsea could demand a fee approaching his estimated transfer value of €110.9 million.
Alonso has indicated that Estêvão will receive opportunities to demonstrate his abilities, while identifying a fitness issue during the summer as one possible explanation for his reduced involvement.
Chelsea’s Carabao Cup encounter against Liverpool on Wednesday could provide the youngster with another opportunity to secure valuable minutes and strengthen his case for a more prominent role.
