Red-hot Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has fired Bursaspor to their eighth league win of the season after scoring in their 2-0 victory over Pendikspor on Monday night.
The goal extended the 30-year-old's remarkable goalscoring streak to 11 consecutive matches.
The Nigerian forward doubled Bursaspor’s advantage in the 62nd minute after Halil Akbunar had opened the scoring in the 10th minute to secure another important victory for the Turkish club.
Iheanacho entered the match with 14 goals and three assists in 10 league appearances this season.
His latest strike took his tally to 15 goals, further strengthening his position among the leading scorers in the Turkish First League.
The former Manchester City and Leicester City forward has continued to make history since joining Bursaspor, having first set a club record by scoring in nine consecutive league matches.
He subsequently surpassed the previous Turkish football record of nine successive scoring appearances, achieved by Galatasaray legend Metin Oktay in the 1962/63 season and former Turkey international Saffet Sancaklı in 1995/96.
Iheanacho extended his remarkable run with a brace in Bursaspor’s 3-0 victory over Muğlaspor on October 15 before finding the net again against Pendikspor.
The victory was Bursaspor’s eighth league win of the season after 11 matches.
They have also recorded two defeats and one draw, collecting 25 points to sit second in the standings, just one point behind the league leaders.
Iheanacho’s consistent performances have made him a key figure in Bursaspor’s promotion push, with the Super Eagles striker showing no signs of slowing down as the campaign progresses.
