Champions League Table And Match Review After The End of Matchday3

According to a report by BBC Sport on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Real Madrid secured a convincing 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig in the Champions League, producing an impressive attacking display to take control of the match and claim all three points.

Leipzig threatened early through Romulo Cardoso and Antonio Nusa, but Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made important saves to keep the hosts at bay. At the other end, Vinicius Junior tested Maarten Vandevoordt as the Spanish side gradually grew into the contest.

Madrid broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute when Bernardo Silva reacted quickest to a rebound inside Leipzig’s penalty area, finishing from close range to give the visitors the lead before half-time.

The Spanish giants carried their momentum into the second period and doubled their advantage in the 52nd minute. Kylian Mbappe headed the ball into a dangerous area, allowing Arda Guler to react quickly and fire past Vandevoordt.

Mbappe had another opportunity shortly afterwards but was unable to convert in the 55th minute. Leipzig attempted to find a way back into the game, although their attacking moves lacked the precision needed to trouble Madrid consistently.

The French forward eventually got on the scoresheet in the 83rd minute. After receiving a pass from Yan Diomande, Mbappe created space near the edge of the penalty area and unleashed an excellent shot into the right corner.

Leipzig responded just two minutes later, with Tidiam Gomis finishing from inside the box after being set up by Christoph Baumgartner. The goal reduced the deficit to 3-1 and briefly offered the hosts hope of a late comeback.

However, Madrid quickly restored their three-goal advantage. In the 87th minute, Diomande connected with Brahim Diaz’s pass and struck a first-time effort into the top-left corner to complete the scoring.

Madrid continued to threaten during stoppage time, with Carlos Espi narrowly missing another chance to increase the margin. Leipzig were unable to produce a further response before the final whistle confirmed a comprehensive victory for the Spanish side.
