Barcelona submit official proposal for Real Madrid transfer target with €2m salary offer

Barcelona have stepped up their pursuit of Manchester United academy prospect JJ Gabriel by submitting a contract proposal to his representatives as they attempt to beat Real Madrid to the teenager’s signature.

According to a report by Barca Universal on Saturday, October 17, 2026, the Catalan club have offered the 16-year-old forward a three-year contract reportedly worth €2 million in salary, with additional bonuses included in the proposed agreement.

The offer represents a significant move by Barcelona as they seek to persuade one of Europe’s most promising young talents to join their project. However, the Spanish giants face competition from Real Madrid, who are also keen to secure the youngster’s services.

Madrid are reportedly slightly ahead in the race, but Barcelona’s latest proposal could intensify the competition between the two La Liga rivals. Both clubs are understood to be determined to strengthen their youth development systems by attracting elite prospects.

Gabriel is reportedly considering leaving Manchester United despite the English club’s efforts to retain him. United regard the teenager as an important academy prospect and are said to be determined to prevent his departure, with the report claiming the club has threatened legal action if he joins another team.

The youngster has attracted growing attention from prominent European clubs, and his next career move could become clearer in the coming weeks. Barcelona are believed to be working to convince him that their development pathway would offer the right environment for his continued progress.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, are reportedly prepared to improve on Barcelona’s offer. According to the report, the reigning Spanish champions are willing to meet Gabriel’s financial and sporting expectations, with a potential package said to exceed €10 million.

Such an offer could strengthen Madrid’s position, although the overall decision will depend on the final contractual terms, the sporting opportunities available and the teenager’s preferred destination.

Barcelona have frequently competed with Real Madrid for highly rated young players, and Gabriel’s situation appears to have created another contest between the historic rivals. The Catalans will hope their three-year proposal and long-term development plans can persuade the forward to choose their club.

With Manchester United also keen to retain their academy talent, the coming weeks could prove crucial in determining where Gabriel continues his development.
