According to a report by BBC SPORT on Saturday October 17, 2026, Lamine Yamal delivered an impressive performance as Barcelona took a commanding 5-2 lead against Real Betis in their La Liga encounter.

The Spanish winger opened the scoring with a superb finish and provided an assist for another goal, playing a crucial role in Barcelona's attacking display.

Barcelona made an encouraging start and took the lead in the 10th minute through Yamal. The young forward collected the ball, skillfully worked his way past opposing players and unleashed a magnificent shot from the edge of the penalty area into the top left corner. His effort left goalkeeper Alvaro Valles with little chance of making a save and gave the visitors an early advantage.

Yamal continued to trouble the Betis defence with his movement, dribbling and ability to create opportunities in dangerous areas. His confidence on the ball helped Barcelona maintain an attacking threat as they searched for additional goals. However, Betis responded in the 27th minute when Valentin Gomez rose above the defenders to head home and restore parity.

Barcelona regained the lead in the 41st minute through Rodri, who headed home from Fermin's accurately delivered corner. Nevertheless, Giovani Lo Celso equalised for Betis two minutes before the end of normal time in the first half with an excellent strike into the top right corner.

After the break, Barcelona continued to push forward despite Betis attempting to remain competitive. Yamal's attacking influence remained evident as he helped stretch the opposition's defence and created space for his teammates to exploit.

The visitors extended their advantage through Gabriel Jesus in the 51st minute, although another goal was subsequently ruled out for offside. Betis responded through Abde Ezzalzouli, who reduced the deficit to 3-2 in the 53rd minute.

However, Barcelona restored their two-goal cushion in the 62nd minute when Eric Garcia headed home from Pau Cubarsi's delivery. Dani Olmo then added another goal in the 81st minute after exchanging passes with a teammate before finding the net from outside the penalty area.

Yamal's goal, creative contribution and constant attacking threat made him Barcelona's standout performer. His influence helped Barcelona establish control of an entertaining encounter to secure an important victory.
