According to a report by Football London on Saturday, 17 October 2026, Jordan Henderson has revealed that Chelsea are developing a stronger team spirit under Xabi Alonso, with the midfielder highlighting growing togetherness among players and coaching staff following their 2-0 victory over Everton.
Henderson believes Chelsea's dressing-room atmosphere has improved significantly after a summer of changes at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues secured consecutive Premier League victories after beating Bournemouth 5-1 last weekend before overcoming Everton away from home on Saturday.
Pedro Neto scored both goals against Everton, while Chelsea also recorded their first league clean sheet since 17 January.
Henderson has started both matches alongside Moises Caicedo in central midfield, helping Chelsea improve their control and defensive organisation.
The 36-year-old also scored twice against Bournemouth, demonstrating his continued ability to contribute despite doubts surrounding his move from Brentford.
Beyond his performances on the pitch, the former Liverpool captain has quickly established himself as an influential figure in Alonso's squad.
He was included in the manager's six-man leadership group following discussions about the captaincy amid Reece James' injury concerns.
Speaking to Chelsea's official website, Henderson expressed his satisfaction with the team's progress and his role at the club.
“I’m loving playing football at the minute; I came back a month or so ago from my injury,” Henderson said. “It’s an absolute privilege and honour to be playing with some of the players in this team.
I’m just enjoying working with them every day and playing with them on the pitch. There’s some top- quality, top talent.”
The midfielder also pointed to the growing relationship between the squad and coaching staff, suggesting that the changes made during the summer are beginning to produce positive results.
“I really feel like the team is beginning to take shape in terms of togetherness. There have been a lot of new changes in the summer: coaching staff and players coming in.
But I really feel the togetherness is coming, not only in training during the week and on the field, but off the field.
That’s going to be important for us going forward, and for me, I’m just loving every second of it.”
Henderson's experience with Liverpool and the England national team could prove valuable as Chelsea seek greater consistency under Alonso.
