Paris Saint-Germain have been dealt a significant blow after medical examinations confirmed that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), an injury expected to end his 2026/27 campaign.
According to a report by GOAL on Sunday, October 25, 2026, the Georgian winger is preparing to travel to Doha early next week for surgery at the renowned Aspetar clinic in Qatar.
Kvaratskhelia picked up the injury during PSG’s 4-2 Champions League victory over Barcelona, with the incident bringing his involvement in the match to an unfortunate end.
Further assessments after the encounter confirmed a complete rupture of the ACL in his right knee. L’Équipe also reported that the 25-year-old would undergo surgery in Qatar as he begins the process of recovering from the setback.
The injury is likely to rule him out for the remainder of the season, with ACL rehabilitation often taking several months before players are cleared to return to competitive football.
Before suffering the setback, Kvaratskhelia had featured in 10 matches across all competitions for the French champions, recording two goals.
His absence presents a major challenge for Luis Enrique, considering the winger’s importance to PSG’s attacking approach. His pace, dribbling skills and ability to create opportunities have made him a valuable option in the final third.
The Parisian club will now have to explore alternative attacking combinations as they prepare for their upcoming domestic and European fixtures without one of their influential forwards.
For Kvaratskhelia, attention will turn to undergoing surgery and completing the rehabilitation programme required to regain full fitness. PSG will be hoping the Georgian international makes a successful recovery and eventually returns to his best level.
