Coventry City striker Ellis Simms is reportedly on the verge of switching his international allegiance from England to Poland after successfully obtaining confirmation of his Polish citizenship.
According to a report by Mirror Football on Saturday, October 31, 2026, the 25-year-old forward, who was born in Oldham, England, qualifies to represent Poland through his grandmother and could make his international debut during the upcoming November break.
Simms has previously represented England at Under-18 and Under-20 levels but has never featured for the country's senior national team.
Reports indicate that the former Everton striker began the process of securing Polish citizenship earlier this year and has now received approval. He is currently working on obtaining his Polish passport, with the remaining administrative procedures expected to be completed without major difficulties.
Poland head coach Jan Urban has already acknowledged the country's interest in recruiting the Coventry forward, suggesting that he could be considered for selection once his documentation is finalised.
Speaking to TVP Sport in September, Urban said: "There is a point. Players with Polish roots have the right to be treated the same as any other Pole with a passport."
The potential addition of Simms could strengthen Poland's attacking options, particularly as veteran captain Robert Lewandowski moves closer to the final stages of his international career.
However, the Coventry striker has found regular playing time difficult to come by this season, starting just one of the club's eight Premier League fixtures. Despite his limited involvement, he made an impact by scoring as a substitute in Coventry's 4-1 victory over Newcastle United.
Simms enjoyed a productive campaign last season, playing a significant role in Coventry's promotion to the Premier League. He finished the promotion-winning campaign with 13 goals under manager Frank Lampard.
For now, the 25-year-old remains focused on helping Coventry maintain their Premier League status, although a potential switch to Poland could open an exciting new chapter in his international career.
Poland are expected to unveil their squad next Friday ahead of their November Nations League matches against Romania and Sweden. Simms could earn a place in the squad if his passport arrangements are completed in time and Urban decides to select him.
Nevertheless, his inclusion in the squad and a possible international debut remain uncertain.
