According to a report by Football London on Saturday October 31, 2026, Former Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge has expressed his admiration for two emerging talents following the Blues' impressive 2-0 Premier League victory over Manchester United, highlighting Estevao Willian and Josh Acheampong.
Chelsea delivered an encouraging performance, with Morgan Rogers opening the scoring, Romeo Lavia controlling the midfield and goalkeeper Mike Penders producing an outstanding save to maintain his clean sheet. However, Sturridge's attention focused particularly on two youngsters.
Estevao was handed a starting opportunity against United after struggling for regular minutes under Xabi Alonso. The Brazilian youngster constantly troubled the opposition defence with his attacking movement, dribbling and ability to create dangerous situations.
Although two of his efforts were disallowed for marginal offside decisions, his overall performance demonstrated his enormous potential and attacking quality.
Sturridge praised the Brazilian and believes consistent opportunities could help him develop into an even more dangerous player.
“Salute to Estevao. On another day, he has a hat-trick and gets all the glory,” Sturridge wrote. “Let him build some momentum and he will fly. Special talent.”
Meanwhile, Acheampong has established himself as an important member of Alonso's squad this season. The 20-year-old defender has started nine of Chelsea's 12 matches across all competitions, including their last four Premier League fixtures.
He impressed again against Manchester United, demonstrating excellent defensive awareness, confidence in one-on-one situations and impressive ability to carry possession forward. Although his understanding of the game can still improve, his performances suggest a promising future.
Sturridge was equally enthusiastic about the young defender, predicting that he could eventually reach the highest level of football.
“Josh Acheampong is a baller and he's only 20 years young. He can become elite. Love his game,” the former England international posted.
With Estevao and Acheampong continuing to demonstrate their potential, Chelsea have two exciting young players who could become important figures in the club's long-term plans.
