According to a report by Barca Universal on Wednesday October 21, 2026, Lamine Yamal matched Kylian Mbappe’s Champions League scoring record for players under 20 after finding the net during Barcelona’s 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

The 19-year-old winger also reached 20 goal contributions this season, strengthening his reputation as one of Europe’s most influential young attackers ahead of Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid.

Yamal produced another impressive attacking display at the Parc des Princes, scoring with a delicate toe-poke finish. The goal increased his season tally to 10, while his 10 assists brought his total direct contributions to 20.

Barcelona have scored 50 goals across all competitions this season, meaning Yamal has been directly involved in 40% of their total output. His remarkable consistency has made him an essential figure in Hansi Flick’s attacking plans.

The teenager’s latest achievement also highlights his growing influence in European football. He has now recorded 13 goals and 13 assists in 36 Champions League appearances, matching Mbappe’s tally of 13 goals in the competition before turning 20.

Although both players have demonstrated exceptional scoring ability at a young age, Yamal’s statistics also underline his creative qualities. His impressive assist record distinguishes his contribution from that of a traditional goalscorer.

With his 20th birthday approaching, the Barcelona winger has an opportunity to surpass Mbappe’s benchmark and establish a new standard for young players in the competition.

Despite Barcelona’s disappointing defeat in Paris, Yamal’s performance provided encouragement ahead of their upcoming showdown with Real Madrid. His ability to score goals and create opportunities makes him one of the most dangerous players in Flick’s squad.

The loss exposed Barcelona’s defensive weaknesses, but Yamal demonstrated that they remain capable of threatening Europe’s strongest teams. His attacking influence will be particularly important as they prepare for El Clasico.

Real Madrid must now find a way to contain a winger whose combination of goals, assists and technical ability continues to cause problems for opposing defences.
