WSL Table After Man United Won 3-1

According to a report by BBC SPORT on Sunday October 18, 2026, Manchester United Women claimed a 3-1 victory over Charlton Athletic Women after producing an impressive attacking display in the first half.

Ella Toone, Andrea Medina and Julia Zigiotti Olme scored to give United a comfortable advantage, despite Leah Davidson pulling one back for the hosts.

United made a flying start to the encounter, with Toone opening the scoring in the sixth minute. The midfielder found space on the left side of the penalty area before firing a right-footed effort into the top-right corner to put her team ahead.

The visitors doubled their advantage four minutes later through Medina. Hanna Lundkvist delivered a cross into the penalty area, and Medina finished with her right foot from the centre of the box to make it 2-0.

Charlton responded in the 13th minute when Davidson found the net. The forward received a pass from Jodie Hutton before sending a left-footed shot into the bottom-left corner, reducing the deficit and giving the hosts renewed hope.

United continued to threaten going forward, with Zigiotti Olme hitting the crossbar in the 15th minute following a corner. Elisabeth Terland also saw her effort blocked during the same spell of pressure.

Zigiotti Olme eventually got her goal in the 31st minute. The midfielder collected a pass from Jess Park before placing a right-footed shot into the bottom-left corner to restore United's two-goal cushion.

Charlton goalkeeper Sophie Whitehouse made several important saves after the break to prevent United from extending their lead. She denied Terland in the 64th minute and stopped a long-range attempt from Dominique Janssen earlier in the second half.

Toone also came close to scoring again, but her effort from the left side of the box narrowly missed the target in the 65th minute.

United introduced Lea Schüller and Simi Awujo in the 69th minute as they looked to maintain their advantage. Schüller subsequently struck the right post with a left-footed effort in the 77th minute after being set up by Park.

Both teams created further opportunities during the closing stages, but neither found another goal. United ultimately secured a 3-1 win after controlling the contest with their first-half finishing and maintaining their advantage until the final whistle.
