According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, October 18, 2026, Manchester United failed to return to winning ways after being held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by Leeds United in their Premier League meeting at Elland Road.
Michael Carrick's men went into the match hoping to secure a much-needed victory after struggling to find consistency this season, but they were unable to hold on to their lead as Leeds fought back in the second half to earn a share of the points.
Manchester United started the game with the intention of taking control, although Leeds enjoyed more possession and tried to put pressure on the visitors' defence. Despite the home side's efforts, it was the Red Devils who found the breakthrough in the 35th minute through Bryan Mbeumo, who finished with his left foot after receiving an assist from Youri Tielemans.
The goal gave Manchester United an important advantage, and Carrick would have expected his players to build on it and make life difficult for their opponents. However, Leeds continued to push forward and looked determined to get back into the game before the final whistle.
Their efforts finally paid off shortly after the break when Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored in the 51st minute to bring Leeds level. The striker finished with his right foot after receiving a pass from Tarik Muharemovic, giving the home supporters a reason to celebrate and putting Manchester United under renewed pressure.
Both sides tried to find a winning goal as the game progressed, with Manchester United making substitutions in an attempt to improve their attacking threat. However, neither team could find another breakthrough, and the referee brought the contest to an end after five minutes of added time.
The disappointing result means Michael Carrick's Manchester United remain 13th on the Premier League table, while Leeds United moved up to seventh position after preventing the Red Devils from taking all three points at Elland Road.
