According to a report by The Guardian on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Paris Saint-Germain recorded an impressive 3-2 victory over Barcelona in their UEFA Champions League meeting at the Parc des Princes, winning a thrilling encounter that saw both sides produce moments of attacking brilliance.
The French champions secured the victory through goals from Désiré Doué, Lucas Hernández and Vitinha, while Barcelona responded with strikes from Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal. Despite twice recovering from a goal behind, the visitors were unable to prevent PSG from claiming all three points.
PSG began the match with considerable attacking intensity, putting Barcelona under pressure from the opening minutes. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia came close to opening the scoring when his effort struck the post, highlighting the threat posed by the hosts’ forward line.
Barcelona attempted to settle into the contest, but PSG’s aggressive pressing made it difficult for the visitors to build their attacks comfortably. The home side eventually broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when Doué capitalised on an error by Yamal before finding the back of the net to give PSG a 1-0 lead at half-time.
Barcelona returned from the break with renewed determination and found an equaliser ten minutes into the second half. Fermín López supplied the pass for young defender Espart, who moved into the penalty area and finished confidently to make it 1-1 in the 55th minute.
The goal brought Barcelona back into the contest and increased the intensity as both teams searched for another breakthrough. PSG continued to threaten with their attacking combinations, while Barcelona looked for opportunities to exploit gaps in the hosts’ defence.
PSG regained the lead in the 72nd minute through Hernández. The defender rose above his marker to meet a corner and directed a powerful header beyond goalkeeper Joan García, restoring the French side’s advantage at 2-1.
Barcelona responded once again, with Yamal making amends for his earlier mistake by producing an outstanding finish in the 79th minute. The young winger created the opportunity through an impressive attacking move before sending the ball into the roof of the net to bring the score to 2-2.
However, PSG quickly regained control of the contest. Just two minutes later, Vitinha found space outside the penalty area and unleashed a powerful long-range effort after the ball fell into his path following a cleared cross. His strike beat García and put the hosts ahead for a third time.
Barcelona pushed forward in search of another equaliser during the closing stages, but PSG defended their advantage to secure a hard-fought 3-2 win.
The result represents an important European victory for PSG, who demonstrated their ability to respond whenever Barcelona threatened to turn the game around. Their attacking quality and clinical finishing proved decisive in a contest that remained competitive until the final stages.
For Barcelona, the defeat will be frustrating after they twice fought back to level the score. Defensive errors and their inability to protect the game after equalising ultimately proved costly against a PSG side that made the most of its opportunities.
The entertaining encounter delivered plenty of drama at the Parc des Princes, but Vitinha’s decisive strike ensured that the French champions emerged with the victory.
