David Raya believes Arsenal must use last season's Champions League final disappointment as motivation to win the competition after their 2-1 victory over Slavia Prague.
According to a report by Football London on Thursday, 5 November 2026, the goalkeeper insists the defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in May must remain a driving force as Mikel Arteta's side pursue European success this season.
Arsenal lost the final on penalties in Budapest, and Raya admitted the experience remains difficult to forget.
However, he believes the disappointment can inspire the Gunners to go one step further this campaign.
The Spaniard wants the squad to maintain that determination and use last season's setback as motivation to lift the trophy.
Raya also praised Viktor Gyokeres for his impressive contribution against Slavia Prague. The Swedish striker scored Arsenal's second goal and provided the assist for Noni Madueke's opener.
Gyokeres has now recorded eight goal contributions, including five goals and three assists, in his last 10 starts for Arsenal across all competitions.
Raya acknowledged that limited playing time had affected the striker but believes his latest performance will improve his confidence.
He also stressed the importance of having a strong squad capable of delivering whenever opportunities arise.
The Arsenal goalkeeper was equally important in securing the victory, producing a crucial save to deny Oskar Kubiak.
His intervention pushed the Slavia Prague player's header onto the post and helped preserve Arsenal's advantage.
Meanwhile, William Saliba's return to the squad provided another positive development for Arteta. The French defender was named among the substitutes after recovering from injury.
Raya expressed his happiness at seeing Saliba return, particularly after the defender had struggled with the injury last season.
Arsenal's victory strengthened their Champions League campaign, while Raya's comments highlighted the determination within the squad to turn last season's disappointment into success.
