According to a report by Barca Universal on Saturday October 17, 2026, Barcelona could face another setback involving Raphinha, with Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti reportedly considering the winger for November’s international friendlies despite his recent recovery from a muscle injury.
The potential call-up has raised concerns for Hansi Flick, who has only just welcomed the Barcelona captain back into his squad.
According to reports, Ancelotti will announce his selection on October 29 ahead of Brazil’s upcoming matches against Japan and Singapore. The fixtures will take place at Singapore’s National Stadium on November 14 and 17, respectively. Raphinha could therefore face another lengthy journey shortly after recovering from his latest injury.
The Brazilian international suffered the problem while representing his country in Brisbane during their second friendly against Australia. He was substituted at half-time after scoring a penalty, although Brazil eventually secured a 4-2 victory.
His absence subsequently affected Barcelona’s attacking options. Flick was without the winger for the club’s 3-0 La Liga victory over Getafe and their impressive 4-1 Champions League triumph against Galatasaray in Istanbul.
Raphinha has since received medical clearance and returned to Barcelona’s squad for their encounter against Real Betis. His availability represents a significant boost for Flick, who will hope the attacker can regain his sharpness and match fitness without further interruptions.
However, another international assignment could complicate those plans, particularly with Barcelona relying heavily on his contribution in attack.
Brazil’s upcoming squad announcement has also attracted criticism over the sporting value of the national team’s recent tour. Their previous schedule included two friendlies against Australia and a meeting with India in Calcutta.
The report questions how much Ancelotti gained from those fixtures following the 2026 World Cup, beyond evaluating emerging talents for Brazil’s Olympic project.
Barcelona will discover Raphinha’s international future when the squad is announced. If selected, the Catalan club will need to maintain communication with the Brazilian Football Confederation regarding his involvement and playing time to manage his recovery carefully.
