Alex Iwobi scored the only goal as Fulham defeated Hull City 1-0 at Craven Cottage on Saturday, October 17, 2026, to equal Peter Odemwingie's record among Nigerian goalscorers in the Premier League.
According to a report by Punch on Sunday, October 18, 2026, the Super Eagles midfielder scored in the 33rd minute to secure Fulham's first league win of the season and hand manager Alvaro Arbeloa his first victory since taking charge.
Iwobi received the ball from Sander Berge near the edge of the penalty area after Hull City failed to clear their lines. He fired a low shot that deflected off Lucas Herrington before going underneath goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis.
The goal was Iwobi's first in the Premier League this season. It took his career total in the competition to 36 goals in 327 appearances, putting him level with former Nigeria international Odemwingie in sixth place among Nigerian players with the most goals in the league.
Before the match, Iwobi had created 13 chances in six league appearances, more than any other Fulham player, but had not scored or provided an assist.
His goal ended that run and helped Fulham secure their first league victory after going six matches without a win.
Two other Nigerian internationals featured in the match. Calvin Bassey captained Fulham and played the entire game, while Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi also completed the match for Hull City.
Fulham had collected just two points from their first six league fixtures under Arbeloa, who replaced Marco Silva in July. Saturday's victory took their points tally to five and moved them away from the bottom of the table.
Hull City struggled to find an equaliser despite their earlier wins against Manchester United and a draw with Chelsea. Mohamed Belloumi sent a second-half effort wide of the post, while the visitors finished the day in ninth place after starting in eighth.
Fulham ended the match with 10 men after Ryan Sessegnon was sent off in stoppage time for a studs-up challenge on Robinio Vaz's calf.
Iwobi now shares the sixth position with Odemwingie on the list of Nigerian Premier League goalscorers, behind Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Nwankwo Kanu, Efan Ekoku, Shola Ameobi and Kelechi Iheanacho.
