According to a report by Barca Universal on Thursday November 5, 2026, Barcelona midfielder Pedri has emerged as the leading creator of big chances in the Champions League this season, despite making only four appearances in the competition.

The 23-year-old has registered five big chances created in just 266 minutes, placing him ahead of every other player in the tournament.

Hansi Flick’s team have developed into one of Europe’s most dangerous attacking sides, with players such as Lamine Yamal and Raphinha regularly contributing goals. However, Pedri’s creativity from midfield has played an important role in providing opportunities for the forwards.

The Spanish international has demonstrated exceptional vision and passing ability, allowing him to identify attacking movements and deliver accurate passes. He is currently averaging 1.69 big chances created per 90 minutes, an impressive return that highlights his influence whenever he features.

What makes his achievement particularly remarkable is his position on the pitch. Rather than operating as a traditional attacking midfielder, Pedri often plays in a deeper role within Barcelona’s double pivot. He regularly collects possession from the defence before progressing the ball and creating opportunities for teammates.

Barcelona’s recent Champions League performances have also highlighted the importance of his contribution. With attacking players offering pace and movement in forward areas, Pedri has several options whenever he receives possession between the lines.

In previous campaigns, some of the chances created by the midfielder were wasted by his teammates. However, improved finishing from Barcelona’s attackers this season has helped turn more of those opportunities into goals and assists.

Pedri remains an important part of Flick’s system because his distribution connects the midfield with the attack. His ability to create five big chances in limited playing time is already an outstanding achievement.

With more Champions League matches still to come, it remains to be seen whether the Barcelona midfielder can maintain this impressive creative form throughout the campaign.
