According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday October 31, 2026, Aston Villa and Fulham shared the points after an entertaining Premier League contest, with Nicolas Jackson opening the scoring before Zion Suzuki’s unfortunate own goal restored parity for the visitors.
Villa started brightly, creating several opportunities through corners and attacking combinations. Leon Goretzka threatened with a header, while Johan Manzambi tested Fulham’s defensive organisation as the hosts searched for an early breakthrough.
Fulham also demonstrated attacking ambition, with Oscar Bobb forcing an impressive save from Suzuki. However, both teams struggled to convert promising situations, despite creating opportunities during an increasingly competitive opening period.
The hosts received a golden opportunity after VAR reviewed a suspected handball involving Sander Berge inside Fulham’s penalty area. John McGinn stepped forward confidently, but his penalty struck the crossbar.
Villa continued applying pressure, eventually breaking the deadlock through Jackson in the 39th minute. The forward produced an excellent individual move before finishing superbly into the bottom-right corner, leaving Bernd Leno helpless.
Fulham attempted to respond before halftime, with Gonzalo Garcia narrowly missing the target. However, Villa maintained their advantage heading into the interval despite facing several dangerous attacking situations from their opponents.
The visitors returned with renewed determination, increasing their pressure through Alex Iwobi, Antonee Robinson and Bobb. Villa’s defence initially resisted, while Suzuki produced important interventions to prevent Fulham from equalising.
Their persistence finally paid off in the 64th minute when Suzuki inadvertently turned the ball into his own net. The unfortunate incident levelled the contest and rewarded Fulham’s sustained second-half pressure.
Both sides subsequently pursued a winning goal, creating opportunities through headers, blocked efforts and dangerous deliveries. Pau Torres and Emiliano Buendia missed promising chances, while Robinson tested the goalkeeper with another threatening attempt.
Despite six additional minutes, neither team found a decisive breakthrough. Villa finished frustrated after surrendering their lead, while Fulham departed satisfied with a hard-earned point following an improved second-half performance.
