According to a post by Fabrizio Romano on X on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Bryan Mbeumo has described his team's result as a major disappointment, arguing that their first-half performance offered enough opportunities to take control of the match.
The Manchester United forward expressed frustration with the outcome, particularly because he believed his side had played well during the opening period.
He pointed to the chances created before the break, suggesting that the team could have established a comfortable advantage.
“This is a big disappointment. We did a lot of good things, especially in the first half, where we could have led 1-0 or 2-0!” Mbeumo said.
His comments highlighted the frustration that can follow a match in which a team creates opportunities but fails to make them count.
Mbeumo's assessment suggested that Manchester United had enough attacking promise in the first half to put themselves in a stronger position.
The forward's reference to a possible 1-0 or 2-0 lead indicated that he felt his team had opportunities to score more than once before the interval. However, those chances were not converted into the advantage he believed their performance deserved.
For United, failing to capitalise on a positive spell can make the task more difficult as a match progresses. An early goal can change the opposition's approach, create more space and allow the scoring team to manage the contest from a position of strength.
Mbeumo's reaction also reflected the difference between playing well in periods and securing the result.
While he acknowledged the positive aspects of the performance, his main concern remained the disappointment of not getting the outcome the team wanted.
The Cameroon international has been an important attacking option for United since joining the club, bringing pace, movement and goalscoring ability to their forward line.
His comments underline the importance of converting promising performances into tangible results. Despite recognising what his team did well, Mbeumo made clear that the missed opportunities in the first half left him dissatisfied with the final outcome.
