According to a report by Mirror Football on Saturday October 31, 2026, Coventry City striker Ellis Simms is set to switch his international allegiance from England to Poland after receiving confirmation of his Polish citizenship.
The 25-year-old, who was born in Oldham, England, is eligible to represent Poland through his grandmother and could make his debut for the country during the November international break.
Simms previously received call-ups to England's Under-18 and Under-20 squads but never made an official appearance for the senior national team.
According to reports, the former Everton forward applied for Polish citizenship earlier this year and has now successfully completed that part of the process. He is currently submitting the necessary documents to obtain his Polish passport, with the remaining formalities expected to be straightforward.
Poland manager Jan Urban has already confirmed the country's interest in the Coventry striker and indicated that he could be considered for selection once the paperwork is completed.
"There is a point. Players with Polish roots have the right to be treated the same as any other Pole with a passport," Urban told TVP Sport in September.
Poland could use additional attacking options as captain Robert Lewandowski approaches the latter stages of his international career.
Simms has, however, struggled to secure a regular starting position at Coventry this season, having started just one of the club's eight Premier League matches. He scored after coming off the bench in their 4-1 victory over Newcastle United.
The striker played an important role in Coventry's promotion campaign last season, scoring 13 goals as Frank Lampard's side secured a return to the Premier League.
Simms is now focused on helping Coventry retain their top-flight status, but the possibility of representing Poland could provide a new chapter in his career.
Poland are expected to announce their squad next Friday ahead of their November Nations League fixtures against Romania and Sweden. Simms could be in contention if his passport formalities are completed and Urban decides to include him.
However, a call-up and international debut are not yet guaranteed.
