We’ve Still Got A Lot To Improve On As A Team, But We’re Going In The Right Direction –Henderson

According to a post by Chelsea FC on X on Saturday, October 17, 2026, Jordan Henderson believes Chelsea are beginning to develop stronger togetherness following changes to the squad and coaching staff during the summer.

The midfielder spoke after Chelsea defeated Everton 2-0 away from home, with Pedro Neto scoring twice in the second half. The victory marked Chelsea’s second consecutive win, giving the team further encouragement as they work towards greater consistency.

Henderson said the players had wanted to build on their previous result by delivering another strong performance at Everton.

“Yeah, we wanted to back last week up by coming here and putting on a good performance and getting the win, which we did,” he said.

However, the midfielder warned that Chelsea still had improvements to make despite their recent results. He said the team needed to continue working together rather than becoming satisfied with their progress.

“I know we’ve still got a lot to improve on as a team, but I feel as though the last couple of weeks we’re going in the right direction,” Henderson added.

The Chelsea player also spoke positively about his experience playing alongside the club’s talented squad after returning from injury. He said he had enjoyed being back on the pitch and working with his teammates.

“Yeah, definitely. I’m loving playing football at the minute. You know, I’ve just come back the last few weeks, month or so from my injury, so it’s an absolute privilege and honour to be playing with some of these players in this team,” he said.

Henderson described the quality within the squad as a major attraction and pointed to the growing connection among the players.

“Some top quality, top talent, and I really feel that the team’s beginning to take shape in terms of the togetherness,” he said.

He acknowledged that bringing in new players and making coaching changes over the summer had created a period of adjustment. Nevertheless, he believes relationships are developing both on and off the pitch.

“There’s been a lot of new change in the summer, you know, coaching staff, players coming in, but I really feel that the togetherness is coming, not only in training during the week on the field, off the field,” Henderson added.

The midfielder said that unity would be important as Chelsea continue their campaign, while stressing that he is enjoying his return to action.
