Victor Osimhen delivered an impressive performance as Galatasaray claimed a 1-0 away win against Genclerbirligi, with the Super Eagles striker earning the Man of the Match award despite failing to score.
According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, October 17, 2026, Galatasaray found it difficult to break down their opponents’ defence, with Osimhen leading the attack and creating several dangerous moments.
The Nigerian forward came close on multiple occasions in the first half. His attempt in the 24th minute was blocked, while another effort from outside the box was stopped by a defender. He also tested the defence with a header from a cross, but the goalkeeper faced little difficulty collecting it.
Osimhen later produced a well-timed pass for Leroy Sane shortly before halftime, although the winger failed to direct his shot on target.
After the restart, the striker continued to threaten. He headed towards goal from a corner in the 60th minute, before narrowly missing the target with another attempt ten minutes later.
Galatasaray eventually secured victory in the 88th minute when Genclerbirligi goalkeeper Irfan Egribayat accidentally diverted the ball into his own net.
Osimhen was booked during stoppage time, but his persistent attacking contribution helped Galatasaray leave with all three points.
