According to a report by Football London on Friday October 16, 2026, Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has revealed that one area every coach wants him to improve is his communication on the pitch, admitting that being vocal does not come naturally to him despite his leadership qualities.
The Ecuador international has established himself as a key figure at Stamford Bridge since joining Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion. However, the 24-year-old believes he can become an even better player by taking greater responsibility for organising and guiding his teammates during matches.
Speaking to Chelsea's official website, Caicedo explained that coaches have repeatedly encouraged him to communicate more during games, as they believe he possesses the qualities required to become an influential leader.
"I think every coach tells me that I can improve talking on the pitch, you know? Because they know that I'm a leader, but it will be better for me if I start talking more with the players. I try my best, but it's not in my nature," he said.
Caicedo added that when he struggles to express himself verbally, he tries to make a stronger impression through his performances and actions on the pitch.
The midfielder also identified former Chelsea defender Thiago Silva as an important example of leadership. He praised the Brazilian for his willingness to help teammates and set standards within the dressing room.
Now serving as one of Chelsea's captains, Caicedo described the responsibility as a special honour for himself and his family. He wants to follow the example of previous leaders while continuing to lead through his work rate, determination and performances.
His comments come after a disrupted start to the 2026-27 campaign, with injuries limiting his involvement in the opening weeks of the season. Caicedo returned to the starting line-up against Bournemouth and delivered an impressive display in Chelsea's reported 5-1 victory.
Chelsea will hope he can remain fit during a demanding run of fixtures, with matches against Everton, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United approaching.
