According to a report by Flashscore on Wednesday November 4, 2026, Liverpool suffered a disappointing 3-2 defeat against Fenerbahce in their Champions League encounter after surrendering their lead in the second half.
Trey Nyoni gave the visitors an advantage in the 25th minute before Mason Greenwood equalised for the Turkish side. Alexander Isak restored Liverpool's lead in the 69th minute, but defensive errors allowed Archie Brown and Vedat Muriqi to complete Fenerbahce's comeback. Despite creating several opportunities, some Liverpool players failed to deliver when their team needed them most.
1. Virgil van Dijk
Virgil van Dijk endured a frustrating evening as Liverpool's defence failed to protect their advantage. The centre-back conceded a free kick in the 33rd minute after bringing down an opponent. Although he produced a dangerous header from a corner in the 57th minute, Ederson made an excellent save to deny him. His biggest disappointment came in stoppage time when he wasted a clear opportunity to equalise, firing over the crossbar from close range after receiving Cody Gakpo's pass.
2. Joe Gomez
Joe Gomez struggled to make a positive impact despite getting involved in Liverpool's attacking movements. He broke past several challenges inside the penalty area in the 21st minute but played an overhit pass towards Bradley Barcola, wasting a promising opportunity. His long-range effort in the 61st minute also went well wide of the left post. Liverpool needed greater composure and accuracy from him in important moments.
3. Dominik Szoboszlai
Dominik Szoboszlai had an inconsistent performance, particularly with his set-piece deliveries. Several of his corners failed to create meaningful danger, including efforts in the 20th, 24th and 62nd minutes. His free kick in the 54th minute was also comfortably collected by the goalkeeper. He later delivered another corner in stoppage time that produced nothing, while his overall contribution lacked the quality Liverpool needed.
4. Bradley Barcola
Bradley Barcola struggled to make his attacking opportunities count against Fenerbahce. He missed a promising header in the 37th minute after connecting with Victor Munoz's cross, sending his effort narrowly wide of the right post. The forward was also repeatedly caught offside in the 78th minute. Although he attempted to trouble the opposition defence, his finishing and positioning were disappointing.
