KFC Komárno has dismissed head coach Norbert Czibor and his entire coaching staff following an 11-match winless run in the Niké liga, Sportnet reported. The club, located at the confluence of the Danube and Váh rivers, sits at the very bottom of the 12-team standings with six draws and five defeats.
The decision to part ways with the 30-year-old Czibor came after the team failed to secure a single victory in the first half of the regular season. Alongside the head coach, assistants Kornel Saláta, Matej Čobík Ferčík, Marián Kello, and Róbert Ollé also left their positions, according to a club announcement shared on social media and cited by SITA.sk. The club thanked the staff for their dedication and hard work before releasing them from their duties.

Czibor originally took over the team on a provisional basis at the end of April following the departure of Mikuláš Radványi, having previously served as an assistant coach. He successfully preserved the club’s top-flight status in a relegation playoff against Zvolen at the conclusion of the previous campaign, earning a permanent contract extension ahead of the current season. His final match in charge was a 1-0 home defeat to Ružomberok.
Komárno holds the 12th position in the Niké liga table with six points, trailing 11th-placed Trenčín by two points, while sitting three points back from Skalica and Ružomberok, as detailed by Flashscore.sk. However, Trenčánia hold a game in hand over the Žitný ostrov side. Flashscore.sk notes that Komárno has scored only nine goals across 11 rounds—the lowest total in the league.
By contrast, the top of the table presents a completely different narrative. While Komárno struggles to find its footing, Dunajská Streda has navigated the opening phase of the campaign without a single defeat. For Komárno, every match has become a battle to avoid slipping further behind in the relegation fight.
The timing of the coaching change leaves little room for transition. Komárno prepares to face direct relegation rivals AS Trenčín on home turf. Trenčín enters the weekend sitting two points ahead of the basement side, though they enter the fixture having played one match fewer than their hosts. Club management has not yet announced a successor to Czibor as the squad prepares for the upcoming league round.
