Kaizer Chiefs Break Silence on Manqoba Mngqithi Links After His Shock Yanga Exit

Kaizer Chiefs have dismissed speculation linking the club with Manqoba Mngqithi following the South African coach’s unexpected departure from Tanzanian side Young Africans.

Rumours emerged suggesting that the Naturena-based club could consider bringing Mngqithi on board after his exit from Yanga. However, Chiefs have moved quickly to distance themselves from the reports, making it clear that the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach is not currently being targeted by the club.

Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr. firmly rejected the speculation when asked about the possibility of Mngqithi joining the Soweto giants. He responded with a direct statement, saying, "Completely lies," dismissing the reports as untrue.

The club’s response comes at a time when Chiefs are working to maintain stability within their technical team. The Soweto giants recently showed their support for head coach Fernando Da Cruz following the team’s elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup, indicating that they remain committed to their current technical setup despite the disappointing continental campaign.

Mngqithi’s name has attracted attention following his departure from Young Africans, where he had been working before the recent development. His availability has naturally fuelled speculation about his next destination, particularly given his experience in South African football and his previous achievements as a coach.

Interestingly, Mngqithi had revealed several months ago that an obstacle had prevented him from joining Kaizer Chiefs in the past. That revelation has added another dimension to the latest
