TS Galaxy Boss Sends Chiefs A Message Ahead Of Cup Clash

TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has issued a warning to Kaizer Chiefs ahead of their Carling Knockout first round encounter on Tuesday.

Amakhosi will welcome the Rockets to FNB Stadium, with kick-off set for 19:00. Sukazi, however, believes his side has what it takes to cause an upset against the hosts.

Kaizer Chiefs and TS Galaxy have faced each other twice in cup competitions, with the Rockets winning both encounters against the Soweto giants.

Their first meeting came in the 2019 Nedbank Cup final in Durban, where TS Galaxy, then playing in the second tier, secured a surprise 1-0 victory over Chiefs.

The teams met again in the 2022 Nedbank Cup last 32, with Galaxy claiming another 1-0 win at FNB Stadium despite being at the bottom of the league standings at the time.

Sukazi believes TS Galaxy can defeat Kaizer Chiefs in a cup competition for the third time, pointing to his club unbeaten record against Amakhosi in previous knockout encounters.

Speaking this week, the Galaxy boss described Tuesday match as an exciting challenge and highlighted his team past victories over Chiefs, including the 2019 Nedbank Cup final when Galaxy were still competing in the NFD.

He also recalled their 2022 Nedbank Cup meeting, when Galaxy secured another 1-0 win at Soccer City despite sitting at the bottom of the league table.

Sukazi said his team would approach the upcoming encounter with a clear intention to win, regardless of which division they compete in.

TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi acknowledged that winning trophies is a major priority for Kaizer Chiefs, but insisted that his team would approach the match with confidence and a strong desire to progress.

Sukazi noted that Chiefs are expected to compete for silverware, whether by their coaches or players, but stressed that TS Galaxy also have their own ambitions.

He made it clear that the Rockets would travel to FNB Stadium aiming for victory rather than simply taking part.

The Galaxy boss added that his team wants to remain in the Carling Knockout competition and believes they have what it takes to fight for the trophy.
