Former PSL Player of the Season Spotted Training Alone as He Searches for a New Club

Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Percy Tau has been spotted training alone as he continues his search for a new club. The former Bafana Bafana international is currently a free agent, leaving questions about where he could play next and whether he can still compete at the highest level of South African football.

Tau is one of the South African players who have enjoyed success both locally and abroad. His technical ability, creativity, movement and experience have made him a well-known name among football supporters, particularly those who followed his rise at Mamelodi Sundowns.

The attacker enjoyed one of the most memorable periods of his career during the 2017/18 season, when he played a key role in Sundowns' campaign. His performances earned him the Premier Soccer League Footballer of the Season award, recognising him as one of the best players in South African football at the time.

His success at Sundowns also helped him attract attention from clubs outside the country. Tau later moved to England and Belgium before joining Egyptian giants Al Ahly, where he experienced success and won several trophies. His career abroad gave him valuable experience at a higher level of competition and exposed him to different styles of football.

However, with the forward currently without a club, his next move remains uncertain. Being spotted training alone suggests that he is keeping himself active while looking for an opportunity to continue his professional career. Although training individually can help a player maintain fitness, joining a club would allow Tau to work regularly with teammates and regain match sharpness.

His situation has also raised questions among football supporters about whether a return to the PSL could be possible. Given his experience and previous achievements, some fans may welcome the opportunity to see him back in South Africa's top division.

Nevertheless, his ability to make an impact would depend on several factors, including his fitness, form, the expectations of a potential club and the role he would be expected to play. The pace and physical demands of the league would also be important considerations.

At this stage, there is no confirmed information about which club could sign the former Sundowns star. His next destination will depend on the opportunities available and whether a suitable agreement can be reached.

For now, Tau's immediate focus appears to be staying in shape while he considers the next chapter of his career.

The big question remains: Can Percy Tau still compete at the highest level of the PSL if he secures a move back to South Africa?
