'People Must Stop Creating Politics:' Ouaddou Fires Back At Appollis Critics

Ouaddou: People Must Stop Creating Politics Over Appollis' Situation At Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has responded firmly to questions surrounding his decision to leave Oswin Appollis out of the starting line-up, insisting that there is no problem between the technical team and the Bafana Bafana international.

Appollis has established himself as an important attacking option for the Buccaneers since joining the Soweto giants. His performances, creativity and ability to influence matches have made him a popular figure among supporters, who naturally expect to see him featuring regularly in the starting eleven.

However, his recent involvement has attracted attention, particularly after Ouaddou opted to start him on the bench. The decision prompted questions from supporters and observers, with some wondering whether there was an underlying issue involving the talented winger.

Ouaddou has now moved to address the speculation, making it clear that the situation is connected to football management rather than any disagreement or lack of confidence in the player.

The Moroccan tactician explained that managing important players also involves considering their physical condition and the possibility of injuries, especially during a demanding football calendar.

Using Paris Saint-Germain's approach to Achraf Hakimi as an example, Ouaddou explained that clubs sometimes make selection decisions based on performance data and the need to protect valuable players.

He insisted that Appollis remains an important member of his squad and that his selection decisions should not be interpreted negatively.

"I already explained the situation of Appollis. You see, in Paris Saint-Germain now, Luis Enrique said that he's going to play Hakimi in January," Ouaddou explained.

The Pirates coach suggested that the same thinking applies to his own situation, stressing that there are legitimate football considerations behind certain decisions.

"It's the same for us. There is nothing about around Appollis," he added.

Ouaddou was particularly unhappy with the speculation surrounding the winger, calling on people to stop creating unnecessary controversy around a straightforward football matter.

"People must stop to create any polemics. Appollis is one of our best players, and we want..."

His comments underline the confidence the technical team continues to have in the former SuperSport United attacker.

For Orlando Pirates, maintaining the availability of key players will be particularly important as the club continues competing across domestic competitions.

Appollis possesses qualities that make him an important attacking weapon, including his pace, movement and ability to create opportunities for teammates. However, Ouaddou's explanation suggests that the coaching staff are equally concerned about managing his workload.

The Pirates coach will hope that the discussion surrounding Appollis does not distract from the team's objectives as the Buccaneers continue their pursuit of silverware.

Ultimately, Ouaddou's message is straightforward: Appollis remains valued at Orlando Pirates, and decisions about his involvement are based on football considerations rather than internal disagreements.
